Ward Demarcation Stakeholders Meeting – Today Today we attended an important Municipal Ward Demarcation engagement led by stakeholders, where updates were presented on boundary changes, voting districts (VDs), and community realignments across multiple wards. With guidance from the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) and the use of eThekwini GIS maps, detailed adjustments were outlined for Wards 69, 76, 78, 79, 81, 82, 83, 84, 85, 86, 87, 89, and 111 — including changes affecting areas such as Sishosonke, Khuthala, Cwebezela, Mbizweni, Zwelibanzi, Nselele, Ezimbokodweni, Malukazi and more. Key highlights: • New Voting Districts introduced in certain wards • Some areas reassigned to neighbouring wards • New police station to be opened in Ward 85 • Door-to-door registration support for affected residents • Community members encouraged to verify and update their registration with the IEC This process ensures fair representation, proper service delivery alignment, and accurate voter registration ahead of upcoming processes. The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has released its timetable and plans ahead of the 2027 General Election. In the announcement: A roadmap has been presented outlining key election activities from now through to the 2027 polls, including voter registration phases and preparations for election operations. The commission has assured Kenyans that election technology will be stable and ready for use, with efforts underway to upgrade systems and deploy reliable tools for voter registration and results transmission. IEBC plans to conduct a mass voter registration drive targeting millions of new voters, supported by a digital preregistration platform to make signing up easier especially for young people. The schedule covers continuous voter registration and preparations right up to the August 10, 2027 General Election, including operational planning and stakeholder engagement.
