Having a nasty Turbo 4 Rotor doesn’t mean I have a nasty race car… yet. Building it from the drivetrain out has a lot of people scratching their head when I’m at Gridlife events. You are watching the shakedown moments live. Not racing, the first time the car has different suspension, braking and handling. Most of this is done at private events usually but I wanted to share the genuine experience with people at Gridlife. We did our first private event Monday and of course it’s easier to test and tune. But this car exists because of all of you so I’d much rather have people swarming the car while I’m working than be alone hoping someone comes by. Enjoy the part I have dialed in. 3-rz swap complete in #TheBeater! Recap, blew the 22re in April hangin with the homies @redordeadfab on a @kchilites night run. @filmdbywill tossed me the keys to his first truck, I pulled the 22re out of it, swapped in and it ran for about 30 secs and something electrical failed and it was parked for the summer. Ordered a new harness from @offroadsolutions.co for a 22re, ran across an entire 98’ wrecked 4Runner, pulled the 2.7L 3-rz engine outta it, changed the wiring order mid build, and tossed it all together. Can’t wait to get this thing out broken somewhere in some rocks now! 😅

Ever wonder why your 22R/RE intake ports are shifted over to one side? The reason is to swirl the air before it enters the cylinder. This is a way to maximize the cylinder volume efficiency. Nissan in the 70s did the same thing by putting their intake and exhaust ports on the same side of the head. Honda in the 90s did the same thing with their 4 valve heads by having one intake cam lobe longer than the other. This engine had 20 min of run time when I pulled the head (stuck a valve on the first dyno pull) but it gave us a great photo opportunity.
