In a controlled lab in Taiwan, a group of overclocking engineers attempted something almost no CPU on Earth should be able to survive. Their goal: break the world record for the fastest processor clock speed ever recorded. Using an Intel Core i9-14900KS, they slowly pushed voltage and frequency higher and higher, but every increase meant more heat, enough to destroy the chip instantly. So they turned to cryogenic cooling: 600 liters of liquid nitrogen to drop temperatures far below freezing, 100 liters of liquid helium to push even deeper, nearing absolute zero At these temperatures, silicon behaves differently. Resistance drops. Stability shifts. And at the very edge of physics, the CPU hit 9.1 GHz. A new world record.
