This is what’s up: The allocation of OSAP funding for eligible students in the new school year will be reduced from a maximum of 85 percent grants to 25 percent, with funding for loans increased from a minimum of 15 percent to 75 percent. 💰 We’re aware of the post-graduation debt concerns that come with such an announcement, and are continuing to work with the Ontario Undergraduate Student Alliance to advocate for policies that keep education accessible and affordable. 🗣️ We encourage students to make their voices heard through various means of organizing. Ontario is rolling out one of the biggest postsecondary funding reforms in years. On Feb. 12, 2026, the provincial government confirmed sweeping changes to the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP), alongside the end of a 7-year tuition freeze and a $6.4 billion investment into colleges and universities. Beginning Fall 2026, students will see changes to how much aid they receive — and how much of it comes as grants vs. loans. That means the new grant-to-loan ratio could directly affect student debt levels, out-of-pocket tuition costs, and overall financial planning for the 2026–2027 academic year.
