Karloo Pool is a stunning natural swimming hole tucked away in the Royal National Park. Sydney is blessed with stunning Rockpools nearby, but this giant in Lake Macquarie may be the best. Not only is the water colour perfect and the pool is big enough for laps, it’s also a short and relatively easy walk to get to. It ticks all the boxes. This place deserves a spot on your bucket list 👇🏽🤯 But make sure you check the instructions first — these natural pools can disappear right in front of your eyes 🤭🫣 Carved by the ocean into a perfect figure 8, these pools are insanely cool to see! You can spend the whole day swimming, sunbathing, and soaking up the views 🤓✨ But… here’s the catch: they’re only safe (and even visible!) at low tide. At high tide or in rough seas, waves crash straight over them — making it dangerous ⚠️ 📍 Where: 8 Figure Pools, Royal National Park (near Burning Palms Beach) 👣 Getting there: 1–1.5 hr hike each way — bring water & good shoes. 🌅 Best time: Early morning at low tide for dreamy light + fewer people 🙌🏽 🌊 Tides: Always check the NSW National Parks website before you go.
