3 reasons people regret moving to Oregon 1. It can get gloomy. Honestly, it rains less than you may think – both Syracuse, NY and Atlanta, GA get more annual rainfall. Our best tip for the gray skies? Don’t let them keep you inside. Buy some warm all-weather gear and get out there! 2. Nature guilt is a real thing. You will be invited to go camping or hiking. If you’re not outdoorsy, you may feel awkward. Fortunately, there are plenty of local parks and nature preserves to dip your toe in before facing the wilderness. And the peace and calm they bring can be life-changing. 3. Everyone’s a little weird. At first it can be confusing… but it quickly becomes charming. Next thing you know, you’re attending every pop-up you can find and pickling all sorts of vegetables in your spare time. (Spicy brined kohlrabi, anyone?)

The most Southern Oregonian thing I’ve seen, ever. Gotta give it up for Sasquatch or Big Foot… or whatever we’re calling it… 📍Southern Oregon in the ancestral homelands of the Shasta & Takelma peoples who lived here for millennia & were displaced between 1851 & 1856. Today, the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde Community of Oregon & the Confederated Tribes of the Siletz Indians identify their members as living descendants of the Takelma and Shasta peoples of this area. #Bigfoot #southernoregon #Sasquatch #influencer #oregon #medford

Save these 30+ places to see on an Oregon road trip, all within a day’s drive of Portland⬇️ We’ve done an OR road trip each of the past few years—It’s one of the most beautiful states in the US, and definitely one of my favorites to hike and road trip. I’ve broken this itinerary down into eight of Oregon’s more scenic areas, with some of the best outdoor places that I’d recommend checking out in each. A: Columbia River Gorge🏞️ - Multnomah Falls - Wahkeena Falls - Eagle Creek Trail - Historic Highway B: Mount Hood National Forest🌲 - Mirror Lake - Trillium Lake - Lost Lake - Barlow Pass C: Willamette National Forest🌿 - Opal Lake - Breitenbush River - Detroit Lake - Breitenbush Hot Springs D: Umpqua National Forest🌳 - Toketee Falls - Watson Falls - North Umpqua River - Lemolo Lake E: Crater Lake National Park🏔 - Wizard Island - Cleetwood Cove Trail - Garfield Peak - Rim Village F: Southern Oregon Coast 🌊 - Bandon Beach - Face Rock State Scenic Viewpoint - Cape Arago State Park - Charleston Marina G: Central Oregon Coast 🌊 - Newport Bayfront - Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area - Otter Crest Loop - Depoe Bay H: Northern Oregon Coast 🌊 - Cannon Beach (Haystack Rock) - Ecola State Park - Seaside Promenade - Manzanita Beach Any one of these areas makes for an awesome trip in itself, or you can do them all in one epic 2-4 week road trip. It’s about 18+ hours of total driving time to hit them all. This trip is great in the fall, so definitely add it to your end of the year travel list. As always, feel free to comment, message, or follow me @lukekellytravels for more itineraries, hiking recommendations, and travel info.

This place is not like the Oregon we know… 🤯🤯 When you think of Oregon… you typically think of lush forests, moody coastline, waterfalls… but typically not a landscape like this 😍 #oregon #oregonexplored #centraloregon #oregonlife #pnwonderland #pnw #oregonhikes #pnwhiking #pnwhikes #hikingbangers #hikingadventures #hikingtrails #hikes #optoutside

Have you heard of this hidden gem in Oregon? ✈️💚 You’ll find it on Google Maps as 📍Airplane Home. It’s hidden in the woods of Hillsboro, just 40 minutes from Portland. Bruce Campbell bought the plane in 1999, transported it here, and has lived in it ever since. He turned this Boeing 727 into his home and kindly welcomes visitors. 🎫 You can visit for free, but make sure to follow the detailed instructions on his website: http://www.airplanehome.com Outdoor self-guided tours are allowed during daylight hours. No need to schedule, and yes, walking on the right wing is part of it. Bruce was traveling when we visited, so we couldn’t explore the inside or get to the top. Maybe you’ll be luckier 😉 If you have a high clearance car, you can drive right up. Otherwise, it’s a short uphill walk. Wear comfortable shoes for climbing and walking. Drone photography is allowed too, just fly low and avoid disturbing neighbors. 🎥 Shot on my @djiglobal Mini 3 Pro Did you notice the heart shape from above??
