Since the autoimmune disease has been ruled out, two options remain. 1. The muscle has been punctured by a foreign body, such as a spike, thorn, or grass, and has become inflamed. However, it is not found anywhere on the CT scan. 2. The muscle may also be affected by a neoplasia (a malignant tumour). They do not want to immediately assume that, but a suspicious spot has also been found on my lung. That could be a metastasis of a tumor, says radiologist, but further research is desirable. For the time being, radiologist, surgeon and neurologist want me to take antibiotics for a few weeks, because I have responded well to them before. That gives the vets the impression that it is option 1 at the moment. If the complaints return after the long-term course, they want an ultrasound to study the inflamed muscle in more detail. Whether a piece of foreign body may have been left behind so that the inflammation returns again or whether there is a tumor after all. Mom is not reassured, but she also knows that I became acutely short of breath on May 29 (and got ill three days later) and that we should therefore also assume option 1. Maybe I inhaled a spike.
