✝️ 3 Assumptions Explained: ⬇️ 1. “Omnipotence means the ability to do absolutely anything.” Omnipotence means the power to do all things that are logically possible. Not nonsense or contradictions. For example a square circle, a married bachelor or a triangle with four sides. These are logical contradictions. 2. “A logical contradiction is a real task.” Contradictions aren't actions, they're meaningless statements. "Create a stone an omnipotent being cannot lift" is like asking, "Can God create a square circle?" It's not a real task. 3. “Failure to perform nonsense means lack of power.” Nonsense tasks don't measure power. Not being able to make 2 + 2 = 5 or a triangle with four corners is not weakness. It's logic. "Well, isn't God beyond all logic?" But the confusion usually comes from what people mean by “logic” and “beyond logic.” Logic isn’t a set of arbitrary rules humans invented like traffic laws. It’s the basic structure of coherent reality and thought. A thing cannot both exist and not exist at the same time in the same way. A square cannot also be a circle. These aren't restrictions placed on reality. They describe what coherent reality even means. When Christians say God is beyond human logic, they usually mean God's knowledge and understanding exceed ours (Isaiah 55:8–9), God can do things we cannot comprehend or predict, and God isn't limited by human reasoning capacity. But that does not mean God violates logical coherence because logical contradictions isn't a "thing" to do. “A stone an omnipotent being cannot lift” is logically impossible by definition. This doesn't limit God. Saying God cannot do contradictions is not limiting His power. It’s saying contradictions aren’t real actions. If you ask God to create a square circle, there is no "task" there to perform. So the inability to perform nonsense does not imply weakness. God can do all things that are possible, but logical contradictions are not possible things. Therefore, omnipotence means the power to do everything that can actually exists or occur. Here is the most honest, biblical answer I can give you: Scripture does not give us a simple yes-or-no rule that says, “If someone un-alives themselves, they automatically go to hell” and it also does not give us permission to treat the act as something light or okay. There is no verse that gives us a mechanical formula for this. But there is a very clear framework the Bible gives us for understanding it. What is clear from Scripture: We are saved by grace through faith, not by one final act (Ephesians 2:8–9; Romans 8:1). Those who are truly in Christ are held by Christ. Jesus said, “No one will snatch them out of My hand” (John 10:28). Our hope is in His work, not in our mental stability at our worst moment. At the same time, life is sacred. Scripture never presents self-destruction as anything but tragic and wrong. Despair is real. The act is not righteous. And the pain matters deeply to God. And finally, God alone judges the heart and the mind (1 Samuel 16:7; Romans 14:4). We do not get to issue final verdicts over someone’s soul. So the tension we hold, and must hold carefully, is this: We do not proclaim automatic condemnation, and we do not trivialize the seriousness of the act. We entrust broken people to the mercy of a just and loving God. That is not a cop-out. That is the position Scripture itself leaves us in.
