Here’s the backstory- we found out our son’s precious birth mom chose us on Thursday, Friday we were able to bring him home. Just about every Sunday we get together with my brothers, sister in laws, sister, and parents for Sunday dinner. We wanted to wait to tell my brothers and their wives in person at Sunday dinner. It was so hard to keep my mouth shut in the family group chat for those few days hahaha but I’m so glad we did!!! As soon as the social worker showed up to do the signing of our sons adoption, we went straight to our room and prayed for his birth mom❤️‍🩹 This moment had nothing to do with us and all to do with our son’s birth mom and how she needed as many angels as possible holding her up 🥺 These four walls in a cold hospital room turn into sacred ground during those moments. It’s when the veil between heaven & earth are so thin so she can receive all the heavenly help during the biggest decision of her life & we knew all we could do was pray for her ❤️‍🩹

As someone who was adopted at a pretty young age but old enough to have memories, I feel like I can confidently say this statement. (I know that a lot of people will think this is sad or insensitive to say out loud.) But truly to me, my adoptive parents are my real parents. They are the family God chose to put my little brother and I in. That doesn’t mean that I don’t care about my birth parents. I just view them more as the ones who helped get us on this earth. Family is more than blood and there’s no ill intent in me by saying that. Here’s what I do wonder: I wonder who they were and if they are still alive today. I wonder if they regret giving up my brother and I. I wonder if they think of us. But when someone asks me, “who are your parents?” — it’s the white ones that naturally come to mind 😉 #adoption #story #family #birthparents #roots
