So Ellen White said things like, ‘we should never teach that we are saved’…but then you read First Epistle of John 5:13 and it literally says you can know you have eternal life. And she talks about the atonement still going on in heaven… but then Gospel of John 19:30 says ‘It is finished.’ And the idea that God’s people will stand without a mediator… but then you see how much Scripture points to Jesus as our constant mediator. Even with Abraham… the promise being based on obedience…and changing the words of the Bible by saying Abraham ALSO walked through the pieces! 😮 We read in Galatians 3 says the promise was based on grace, not law. He was anointed in a moment, but crowned in a lifetime. Because God often marks you before He moves you. He anoints potential long before He reveals purpose. David was chosen when he smelled like sheep, when his hands were still calloused from fields, when his family did not even consider him worth presenting. 📖 “Rise and anoint him, this is the one.” (1 Samuel 16:12) But after the oil came wilderness. After the promise came pursuit. After the calling came caves and conflict and running for his life. The anointing did not take David to the throne, it took him to training. David killed lions before he killed Goliath. He learned worship before he learned warfare. He carried a harp before he carried a crown. Because God always works on the inside before He elevates the outside. 📖 “Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7) You are anointed before you are ready so the process can shape you. The oil marks you. The waiting makes you. The throne requires both. This came alive to me while reading David’s journey with my partner through the Couple Bible App. We talked about how calling does not skip preparation, and how God often delays promotion because He is developing character.
