Day 2 of my Affinity series. 🧡 In this video I’ll show you how to design a clean, type-only motivational poster using a modular grid in the new Affinity app, built around the verse Proverbs 22:29 “Those skilled in their work will stand before kings.” You’ll see how I: • Set up an A3 poster in Affinity • Turn on guides + grids • Build a simple 6×8 modular grid with margins and gutters • Use modern sans + serif type pairing • Apply an orange / black / grey / eggshell colour palette for a pro, gallery-style look If you’re a beginner designer coming from Canva or just starting with layout and typography, this will help you stop eyeballing everything and start designing with structure. 👉 Why I love Affinity Designer – Part 1 ✏️ As an illustrator, I mainly work on the iPad. As I'm also a designer, my illustration style is more graphic, I draw in vectors. And I really need a lot of layers and everything has to be adjustable. That is why Procreate has never worked for me as anything other than a sketching program (but I love it for that!). A few years ago, I discovered Affinity Designer as the only app with extensive features for drawing in vector on the iPad with the Apple Pencil. I fell in love with the app and have stuck with it to this day. ✏️ One of the many features I love is the pencil tool. It allows you to draw very intuitively and naturally while forming precisely the shape you want without setting too many anchor points. ✨ There’s a button that enables to redraw or improve the shape easily, and the shape closes automatically. You can adjust the shapes by moving the anchor points, but also by simply moving the path between the anchor points! 👌 I find it very intuitive to use – just like drawing by hand. But with the option to change everything later and all the other advantages of vector drawings. By the way, this is not an affiliate thing or paid ad. I’m just really happy about this powerful tool and know that many illustrators who draw in vector like me are looking for an alternative to the Adobe tools or haven't really found their favorite tool yet. Don’t get me wrong, I too use the Adobe apps and love them for many things!
