The new AirTag 2 is here and it’s the AirTag we all have been waiting for with some incredible new and welcoming features! Here are the 5 most important ones you should know about: 1. New Ultra Wideband (UWB) chip —> The AirTag 2 uses Apple’s second-generation UWB chip (same as in iPhone 17 and recent Apple Watches), giving more precise and extended tracking capabilities. Precision Finding now works from up to ~1.5× farther away than before.  2. Longer range and better connectivity —> Thanks to both the new UWB and an upgraded Bluetooth chip, the effective range for finding items and updating their location via the Find My network is significantly increased.  3. Much louder and distinct sound —> The built-in speaker is up to ~50% louder than the first-gen AirTag and plays a new, more recognizable alert chime, making it easier to hear the tracker when it’s hidden or buried among things.  4. Precision Finding on Apple Watch —> For the first time, you can use Precision Finding not just with an iPhone but also with compatible Apple Watches (Series 9/Ultra 2 and newer), meaning you can track items using the Watch alone.  5. Improved tracking reliability & Find My features —> The AirTag 2 stays visible more reliably as it moves, and Apple has expanded the Share Item Location feature (e.g., with airlines for lost luggage help).
