Happy Birthday Alan Charles Wilder ( Hammersmith , London , England ; June 1, 1959) is an English musician, arranger, producer, programmer and composer , best known for having been part of the electronic music group Depeche Mode .

Alan Wilder has very kindly provided a video officially announcing the sale of his personal record and CD collection from his beautiful Norway home. The sale will take place at Beat The Clock Records in Hove on Sunday August 18th at 11am. As the man says: Head down and have fun. Please note: the majority of the sale will be set price, with items starting from as little as £1. However, there will be a few auctioned items in store on the day, including the copy of “The Man Who Sold The World” mentioned in the video. The album featured another song penned by Wilder called ‘If you want’. There were some rumours circulating social media saying that Alan wrote more tracks like “Violence”, "Until you've sown the seed" or “I feel no guilt” for Some Great Reward, but he did not recall these songs. However, "I Feel No Guilt" is not necessarily the true name of the track, as these demos had no titles listed on the inlay card as mentioned in the above quote. All of the track titles are made up by fans except for 'If You Want', since that is the only track from this demo tape that appears in Depeche Mode's catalog, specifically as the penultimate track on the 1984 album Some Great Reward. It is possible that Alan replied that the track is fake because he is unfamiliar with the track when referred to as "I Feel No Guilt", or he was embarrassed at the track and did not want it attributed to him. He has mentioned disappointment with the tracks he penned for Depeche Mode on his Shunt Q&A site, and also stated that he is indeed singing vocals on the 'If You Want' demo. Is it possible? Could this really happen? If you would have asked me once if I thought you could miss someone you never met in your entire life, I would have said no way! However, things for me changed since November of 2025. Once I began my journey with Alan, researching his life, studying his work, I have changed my mind. Because there ARE days where I do miss Alan. I might get depressed if I don't post about him, and I just become sad. It's a feeling I never felt before and never in my wildest dreams, did I think it would happen, especially to me! But Alan has changed me. God brought him into my life for a purpose, and I'm so glad! Alan has become more than an actor to me. He's become someone that I admire, and even relate to. Whenever I go through my own struggles, I think of him and how he must have felt during his trials and tribulations. I love being Alan's unofficial biographer, and it's something I want to continue for a very long time!
