Altar for the dead. No saints. No deities. No distant ancestors. There are ones whose voices I remember. The ones who sat at my table. The ones who knew my name before I knew myself. They are not gone. They are just quieter now.

The winter is a time for traditions, customs, and rituals that stretch back centuries. From decorating our homes with greenery, to hosting feasts, and brightening our homes with candles and, in our modern day, twinkling fairy lights. AD| Seasonal rituals help to connect us to that particular time of year, encouraging us to enjoy and experience all that each month has to offer. They continue an ancient practice, one that is embedded into our lands with stories and traditions. At the turn of each season I update my altar with foraged materials that represent that time of year, and when the weather is decent enough I often make a temporary altar outside. These altars are usually adorned with a deity of nature, some foraged materials, stones and precious items, and most importantly, candles ⭐️ I find candles just brings an altar to life, and when they're as beautiful as these ritual candles from @animamundiherbals it's hard not to sit for hours and enjoy the dancing flames 🔥 Making a seasonal altar is simple, and really it is up to you what you choose to put there. But a great place to start is by gathering in little bits of nature and forming a decorative pattern around a central piece. This could be a stone, a candle holder, or in my case it is this ceramic green man that I picked up from Twelsbury Medieval Fair!
