Credits @johal_capital Itzhak Bentov (1923–1979) was a Czech-born Israeli-American inventor and mystic whose theories on consciousness were utilized by the CIA in the 1970s and 80s to understand the Gateway Process, a technique for achieving altered states of consciousness. His work suggests that consciousness is not produced by the brain but is a fundamental, universal field that the brain acts as a receiver for. Declassified CIA documents, specifically the "Analysis and Assessment of Gateway Process" (1983), explicitly cite Bentov's work to explain how the human body and consciousness interact with reality. Brain as a Receiver/Transducer: Bentov believed the brain does not generate consciousness, but rather acts as an antenna or transducer. It filters and tunes into a broader holographic universe. The Universe as a Hologram: Bentov suggested that the universe is a hologram within our awareness, meaning every part of it reflects the whole. Therefore, we are intimately connected to all things in the universe. Reality is Vibration: He proposed that everything—matter and energy—is vibrating at different frequencies. Human awareness can shift its frequency to perceive different aspects of reality. Brain-Heart Coherence: Research into the cardiovascular system's interaction with the brain, often mentioned by Bentov (e.g., aortic standing waves), continues to be researched in the context of meditative states and high-functioning cognitive states.
