Despite its name, Alamosaurus wasn't named after the famous Texas landmark. Paleontologists actually discovered it in 1921 within New Mexico's Ojo Alamo Formation. This enormous long-necked herbivore was the only known titanosaur to roam North America during the Late Cretaceous. Growing up to 100 feet long and weighing nearly 80 tons, a fully grown Alamosaurus was simply too large to be hunted. Acrocanthosaurus, around 125–100 million years ago in what is now North America, was a massive predator reaching up to 11–12 meters in length. It is best known for the tall neural spines along its back, likely supporting a ridge or sail used for display or muscle attachment. Despite being smaller than Tyrannosaurus rex, it was the apex predator of its time, hunting large herbivores like sauropods. Fossil trackways suggest it moved in a straight, efficient gait, and its skull was built for powerful bites, making it one of the most dominant hunters of the Early Cretaceous.
