Back on our very first day of District Tours in District 2 with Business Agent Pat Trowbridge… We talked to young Brother Sebastian Navarrete out on the Olivas Park project working for Toro alongside Brothers Adam “Billy” Adams and Curtis Dawley. 💥 Brother Sebastian officially became a card-carrying member of Local 12 on October 30, 2025, following in his father’s footsteps into the trade. Even early in his journey, he’s already gaining experience running equipment, mini excavators, skid steers, loading trucks, moving dirt, and doing whatever the job calls for. But the part of his interview that stood out most wasn’t the equipment. It was hearing a young apprentice talk about PURPOSE. Sebastian shared that joining Local 12 gave him structure, direction, and something meaningful to wake up for every morning. He talked about pride in helping build and improve the world around him — and honestly, that’s exactly what this trade is about. Not just making a living… but building something real alongside your Brothers and Sisters every single day. If you’re doing any of these, stop! ✋ ps: the team were feeling a little sassy 💁‍♀️ 👉There’s no point references upon request, employers are aware they can request references if they need! 👉Give some explanation to your skills, if you can’t prove you have them, then it’s just words 👉Try and keep your CV to 1-2 pages, if you’re a potential apprentice and early in your career, this should be very possible 👉Spelling is everything - if you can’t send a perfect CV with no spelling mistakes, employers will think you’re careless 👉Don’t worry about wasting space on a photo of you, what you look like is not the point and you should use the space for something else (unless it’s a modelling job, then that would probably help...) #cv #applicationtips #careeradvice #apprenticeship
