Two rolls of Super 8 film, a rip around the Adelaide CBD and a few beers with mates is all it took for @theshadowministers to swoop into this week’s Wild One position with the clip for their aptly named track, ‘In The City’. A video that looks as fun as this could only be just as fun to create. Director Adon Langhorn of @prettybullproductions concurs, saying “I’ve always wanted to shoot a music video entirely on Super 8, so when the band reached out asking for exactly that, it was an easy yes. I only used two rolls of film, which provided roughly three and a half minutes of footage each, so every shot had to be intentional and well thought out.” With the majority of filming done around the band's home town of Adelaide, Adon decided to focus on capturing the city's most recognizable landmarks and icons. Local icons like Rundle Mall’s balls, Hindley Street, the Polites signs, and Bobo (the dancing Chinese lady) can all be spotted throughout the clip, which Adon says felt essential “as each holds a special place in the city’s identity. Bobo is always dancing in Rundle Mall, so it only made sense to feature her in a song called ‘In the City’.” “The shoot itself unfolded in a relaxed, organic way” says Adon. “We spent the day exploring the city, capturing moments that felt authentic and visually engaging. Toward the end of the shoot, we gathered at The Austral - a pretty well known pub - which provided the perfect setting to film candid scenes of the band simply enjoying time together. These unscripted moments became some of the most genuine and memorable parts of the video.” Write up continued in comments ✍️

The footage has gone viral with 30 million views and 450,000 likes, sparking intense discussions in the comments regarding the ethics of taking pets on such extreme adventures and the visible excitement—or shock—on the dog's face.

Joe DeSena (@realjoedesena), founder of Spartan Races, believes in the value of challenge. Grit is his ethos. This is how he runs his businesses, raises his family, and navigates his personal life. Recovery from any injury can be isolating and confusing. This is especially true when resources are hard to access and reliable information feels out of reach.
