Have you ever heard of the Baltimore City Arabbers? Most people haven’t. The name traces back to British terminology, where Black children in Baltimore communities were referred to as “Arabs” (not Africans) due to many having Middle Eastern origins. In honor of Black History Month, and beyond, we’re sharing little-known history from our community. When you dig deep enough, you’ll find rich agricultural and cultural traditions tied to Black communities in nearly every major city. Hidden history they refuse to teach in school. #Baltimore #Horsemen #History #BlackHistory #fyp

Walking down 125th Street in Harlem and I noticed something

Walking down 125th Street in Harlem and I noticed something that really made me think. During Black History Month, there were no street displays, banners, or decorations recognizing the history and legacy of Harlem — a place known around the world for Black culture, activism, music, and the spirit of our people. Now I’m seeing lights celebrating another holiday. The question is simple: How is it that Harlem — one of the most historic Black communities in America — had nothing displayed for Black History Month, but other celebrations are being recognized on these same streets? Harlem’s history matters. Our culture matters. Our legacy should always be visible in the community that helped shape it. Make it make sense.#healingshamanic #harlem#MelanatedAmericanhistory#thru tryingtoeraseus#

They Kicked Them Out, So They Built a City 🤯 They tried to erase their votes, but created a historic city instead. The Story: In 1899, the white mayor of Oxford, Alabama, realized Black voters were about to elect a Black Justice of the Peace. His solution? He literally redrew the city limits to kick their neighborhood out of town. ✂️🗺️ But instead of disappearing, the residents of “Mooree Quarters” incorporated as Hobson City—Alabama’s first self-governed Black municipality. They turned segregation into sovereignty. ✊🏾🏛️#Shorts #HobsonCity #BlackHistory #Gerrymandering #AlabamaHistory
