ARC Books, or books sent out to readers before they officially release, are not Free books. Yes readers may not have to pay money for them, but there is an exchange of the book for the reader's time spent reading, reviewing and promoting the book. When it comes to ARC books they are vital in helping an author, especially an Independent author, to have a successful book launch! It is a way to help build up the hype of a book before it officially releases and help more readers see it. If you sign up to be an ARC reader please only sign up if you know you will have time to read and review the book. I know when I first started Bookstagramming I signed up for every ARC opportunity I saw. Not only did I quickly burn out but I also just didn't have the time to enjoy the books as much as I wanted to. Be sure you take the time to read through the ARC forms to know the book will be a great fit, you are aware of the timelines and what is expected before signing up. More than that, I KNOW I'm not the only one wondering. So what was the solution? Ask the folks that will know best!

How to get physical arcs! But also e-arcs! ⬇️⬇️⬇️ I forgot to mention in the video but most importantly you should have a review platform (booksta,booktok,booktube,blog)!! This incentivizes publishers when giving an arc out that you are likely to generate buzz around an upcoming release! 1. Email the publisher!! Somethings to include - introduce yourself and your bookish socials where you review books, the title you are asking for, how much an anticipated read it is for you , but also your address for shipping! 2. Sign up for publisher influencer/arc programs! - These can usually be found on publisher websites and give you the opportunity to receive physical arcs but also e-arcs through NetGalley. NetGalley is an amazing platform to receive e-arcs!! 3. Follow your favourite authors to stay up to date on all things as well as the opportunities for arcs sign ups!! 4. Enter arc giveaways!!! Always worth the try! Another one I didn’t list in the video is putting your email in an easy to find spot such as your bio, this makes it so if a publisher comes across your page they are able to find your contact info easily. Sometimes silence means you didn’t score an ARC of the book you really wanted… but sometimes silence is not a no! I got both of these final copies sent to me by the publisher months after I emailed and asked for a physical ARC! Pro tip: leave your mailing address in your inquiry email and the publishing fairies might have a surprise for you! If you have any questions about emailing publishers for ARCs let me know! Are you an ARC reader? Do you find yourself unable to stop requesting/accepting ARCs? I cancelled KU earlier this year thinking I’d work on my backlist. Hahahahaha. Yeah, I was lying to myself. The lack of KU suddenly meant to my brain that I had time to read ALL the ARCs now. I realize it’s a privilege almost to be able to receive those (plus the ADHD is strong) so I always hit the deadlines but it’s always a puzzle to figure out when to mood read, library read, and ARC read. Read with me during a 12 hour readathon!!
