The loss of our nation's much beloved and respected Elders, Archie Roach and Uncle Jack Charles is just too big to process. Hearing these two beautiful souls sing together on Archie's song 'We Won't Cry', which very quickly became their signature song, brings back so many special memories... the work they did together on stage as artists and off stage as tireless advocates for young First Nations artists through the Archie Roach Foundation especially the many hours they both spent talking to young ones incarcerated in youth justice centres. Thank you both for lifting our collective spirits high and inspiring us all to be the best that we can be. On behalf of the Archie Roach Foundation we send our love to Uncle Jack's family and friends. We will continue to honor both your legacies so they reverberate for many years to come. Jill Shelton

Uncle Archie Roach, Gunditjmara, Bundjalung Elder, song man and storyteller, took one final tour of the streets of Fitzroy today before heading through town and on to St Kilda and then back to his Country, near Warrnambool. The late Archie Roach, Gunditjmara (Kirrae Whurrong/Djab Wurrung), Bundjalung Senior Elder, songman and storyteller received a touching tribute at this year's National Indigenous Music Awards. Roach's song 'We Won't Cry' was performed by Emma Donovan, who recently accompanied him on what became his final national tour. Donovan was joined by Yirrmal, Marlon x Rulla, Fred Leone, and a number of other artists to celebrate Roach's incredible legacy. Here, their performance in full.
