Day in the life. I can’t capture every little thing I do in the day, nor do I think that makes good viewing, but a 7am start, a morning sketching, an afternoon on-site and evening focusing on your body is a crude breakdown of an average day. The way we split projects in the office feels like a common approach for practices at this smaller resi scale, and it’s only as projects become larger that there a multiple people working on that same project. That said, we are now about to start a large technical package that I will be developing in tandem with another one of the team. But from a concept design stage, it feels like there is a risk of ‘too many cooks’. You always learn something new on-site, despite believing having a detailed understanding of the intricacies of the building (as you drew every day), there are always nuances and with general building tolerances, even with the best intensions, things don’t always line up in the way you had hoped! The gym is the focus through the week, but Friday calls for a reset and there’s something nice about definitively ‘ending’ the week but ‘starting’ the weekend. Finally, while I enjoy edited, it ALWAYS get squeezed into what little time is left. There is a back log of content, just not enough time to collate it and get it out there!
