I was in a splint about a day, day and a half. Started having nausea/vomiting with any movement in my splint. After talking to the orthopedic department I was called in to speak to the surgeon once again. My body was not tolerating the splint so I will be in a full arm cast, completely. With no rotation, so it can hopefully help my constant pain, nausea and vomiting!! Here’s to four weeks. to remind everyone this was not our plan. The plan was to go into a removable cast until I can get an MRI and schedule surgery if needed. I couldn’t do it, let’s say my body couldn’t do it, clearly. #lac #armcast #fyp followers

This little raccoon in care at Wildlife Haven had a fracture to the forearm’s stabilizing bones. Tackling this proved to be a bit of a challenge, as trying to keep a splint on a baby raccoon is not an easy task! The veterinary teams at Assiniboine Park Zoo and Wildlife Haven teamed up to give our patient a full arm cast. We’re thrilled to see this little patient is now healed and back on her feet!
