Here’s your Artemis II crew weekly update for March 3-7, 2025.   Standing in Building 9, @nasajohnson’s Space Vehicle Mockup Facility, brought back memories of training for my first spaceflight, but the real excitement was watching history unfold in real time. On Sunday, March 2, Blue Ghost landed on the Moon, sending back images from the lunar surface, and Intuitive Machines was right behind it, aiming for another historic landing. History is being made, and it’s happening on February 6. While it might not be trending yet, the Artemis II mission is the most significant leap in human spaceflight since the Apollo era. For the first time in more than five decades, four astronauts are preparing to leave Earth’s orbit to travel to the vicinity of the Moon. The Mission (Artemis II): This 10-day journey is a "proving ground". The crew Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Jeremy Hansen will not be landing on this trip. Instead, they will be testing the life-support, communication, and radiation-shielding systems of the Orion spacecraft while performing a lunar flyby. Breaking Records: The crew will travel roughly 400,000 km from Earth, surpassing the record distance reached by the Apollo 13 crew in 1970. This mission is the final green light needed before Artemis III the mission that will actually land humans on the lunar surface in 2027 or 2028.
