Assistive devices go further than mobility aids! As someone
19,186,630

Assistive devices go further than mobility aids! As someone with pain in my fingers and hands from Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, as well as carpal tunnel in both wrists, opening bottles has become nearly impossible for me. It makes me feel seen when I discover a device made specifically to preserve my independence, especially when it works successfully! Please note that you still need to be able to grip the bottle to hold it steady. I can hold a bottle, but I cannot make a twisting motion due to my disability. This is why this device works for me. Cheers to a more accessible life, even for seemingly small tasks. 🥂 #disability #ehlersdanlossyndrome #health #chronicillness #assistivetech #mobilityaids #waterbottle #hands #pt #carpaltunnel

@amandasteijlen recommended this attachment called the ModularHose Assistive Technology Phone Holder and LuLu was obsessed! It holds your phone perfectly on your chair to be able to take photos, contact anyone (hello FaceTime GAME-CHANGER), and use your phone without needing to physically hold it. If you have limited arm mobility, this may be something to try out. ❤️ We got it off of Amazon, and they had great customer service (not an ad, just love to share adaptive products!). . #VideoDescription Claire holds a gooseneck type attachment. Lulu then demonstrates that it is a wheelchair attachment that holds your phone in the perfect location for you! . #WheelchairAttachment #PhoneHolder #WheelchairHacks #WheelieQueer

🧠 MIT built a brain-computer interface without touching the brain. While Neuralink needs skull surgery and robotic implants, MIT engineers created the MouthPad—a 0.7mm retainer that sits on the roof of your mouth. It works like a wireless trackpad. Your tongue controls the cursor. Tap to click. Swipe to scroll. All via Bluetooth. Over 100 paralyzed users are already using it daily—up to 9 hours straight. One college student with quadriplegia uses it to write math equations in the library where voice systems don’t work. No surgery. No external wires. Just a custom-fit dental retainer with pressure sensors and a battery. It’s available now for $1,500 while Neuralink is still in trials. Would you try tongue-control or wait for the brain implant? 🤔 Save this if you’re into assistive tech innovation 🔖 Credit: @augmentaltech MIT assistive technology, tongue controlled device, MouthPad, brain computer interface alternative, non-invasive BCI, paralysis technology, quadriplegia assistive device, MIT Media Lab innovation, Neuralink alternative, capacitive tongue sensor, hands-free computer control, wireless assistive tech, spinal cord injury technology #AssistiveTechnology #MIT #BrainComputerInterface #Neuralink #DisabilityTech Paralysis MedicalInnovation TechForGood Accessibility WearableTech HealthTech Innovation Engineering Quadriplegia SpinalCordInjury FutureOfTech TechNews AIandTech ArtificialIntelligence

Honda’s robotics division has been a leader in human-assistive technology. Its most famous creation, ASIMO (Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility), was built as a multifunctional humanoid assistant. Honda also introduced two mobility aids: * Bodyweight Support Assist, reducing strain on the legs when walking, climbing stairs, or crouching. * Stride Management Assist, designed for the elderly or those with weakened leg muscles who can still walk on their own. These projects show Honda’s focus on robotics that enhance mobility, independence, and quality of life. Follow for daily breakthroughs at the intersection of AI and technology.

Several kids had a great time trying out the new 100% 3D Printed Toddler Mobility trainer at rockymountainreprapfestival ! They instantly knew how to use the chair and had a great time with it. I want to note these kids are not wheelchair users, they thought it looked like good fun and wanted to try it out in this highly supervised environment. We are actively working with real users in our local community to conduct testing of this chair before the public release later this summer! Stay tuned…..
