There is a few brands that defined my childhood. @atari is on the top of that list. Today I received a package in the mail from @atari and @myarcaderetro so I unboxed it and was really not prepared for just cool and cleverly designed the Gamestation Go actually is. This little handheld/ console hybrid has over 200 of the best Atari classics. (Yes it has Ninja Golf) and it has a trackball and paddle in addition to the D pad so you can play all the classics the way you remember. But the real standout is the intelligent lighting for the controls. I was not prepared for just how cool this feature is. Designed by 𝐄𝐏𝐘𝐗 and sold by Atari 𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 the GAME BOY, it was 𝐟𝐚𝐫 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 powerful than other handhelds at the time and even allowed multiplayer gaming with up to 𝟖 𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐬 connected. Despite its advanced graphics and features like a reversible screen for left-handed players, the Lynx struggled against Nintendo’s Game Boy due to its high price, large size, and heavy battery use (6 BATTERIES FOR 3/4 HOUR GAMEPLAY AGAINST GAME BOY 4 BATTERIES FOR..... 27?30 HOURS?... MAMMA MIIIAA). Atari later released a smaller Lynx II in 1991, but by the mid-1990s the console was discontinued. Even so, the Atari Lynx remains a cult favorite and a bold step in handheld gaming history.
