I still think relationship books are beautiful. Learning about attachment styles, anxious avoidant dynamics, communication, all of it... it really can change you. But only if you’re using it to reflect. Not to stay in something that’s not meeting you. Because for me it stopped being about growth. I was reading, learning, analyzing... but really I was trying to make it work. I was over-functioning so they could under-function. Doing the emotional work for two people and calling it healing. And no amount of healing can carry a relationship alone. Sometimes it doesn’t fix the dynamic it just keeps it alive. It becomes another way of earning love. Like it I understand more, communicate better, trigger less, need less... then maybe l’ll finally be loved the way I need. But that’s just the same wound in a different font. Still believing love is something you have to earn instead of something that meets you. And yet... I don’t regret any of it. Because in the end, all of that didn’t teach me how to make it work with them but it taught me how to choose myself. So yes, read the books. Learn. Grow.
