When you join as a fresher or enter a new team as a QA, you usually start with manual testing and documentation. And honestly, that’s a good thing at the beginning. It helps you understand the product, features, and user journey. But for long-term growth, there comes a point where you need to step up towards automation. Here’s a practical way to do that: ➡ First, understand which automation framework is used in your current project. ➡ Learn the programming language and framework used there. ➡ Once you gain confidence, inform your manager that you’ve upskilled and are ready to take automation tasks. A good place to start is running the existing regression suite. Most of the framework is already in place — you mainly execute tests and fix failures when they break. This helps you: • Understand the framework flow • Learn test execution and debugging • Get familiar with test journeys Go through the files to understand how things connect — from BDD feature files → step definitions → actual logic. At this stage, you understand the framework and its flow. Now you’re ready to pick up new automation tasks and contribute meaningfully. Hope this helps someone planning the move from manual to automation [manual to automation, QA automation journey, automation testing career, Selenium automation path, QA upskilling] #ManualToAutomation #QATesting #AutomationTesting #QAEngineer #CareerGrowth

Many people think Manual Tester = Automation Tester. But there is a big difference. Manual Testers focus on finding bugs and testing the same flows again and again. Automation Testers focus on building systems that test automatically. Automation is not just writing scripts. It’s about designing scalable, reliable test frameworks. If you’re currently in Manual Testing, you can build automation thinking too. DM SHIFT to know how. Hybrid Frameworks! The most important question in an SDET interview And this will single handedly influence your level of expertise in Test Automation For example, You should be able to explain how you have combined Page object model, keyword driven components and data driven components to achieve maximum scalability, reusability, flexibility and mainly bringing together multiple techs like front end UI, middle APi and backend Database into a single hybrid framework! And to help you guys to easily understand, implement and explain confidently in an interview, I have designed a detailed infographic which showcases different level of a hybrid frameword, its purpose, a real time example and also an interview explanation snippet To get this high resolution inforgraphic, make sire to like follow and comment yes and I will send it right to your dm
