08/01/2026 ⚠️💥 Avui he desencadenat una allau (zona Cim de l’Hortell, a Andorra, orientació N-E, cota 2400 aproximadament). Comparteixo el vídeo simplement per explicar què ha passat. És un lloc molt conegut per mi. Aquest any hi he baixat 7 o 8 vegades. I, dels últims 5 dies, avui n’era el tercer cop. El BPA marcava risc 1–2. Hi havia traçades fresques d’avui mateix. I és una pala amb una línia d’arbres. Aquest matí m’he llevat com el dia, una mica amb el cap nuvolat, bastant espesa i em feia mandra fer activitat molt llarga i complexa. Així que he anat a fer una volteta curta per cansar en Cim i tornar cap a casa. Tot plegat han sumat molts factors que m’han fet pensar que era segur. I aquí és on entra, el que es coneix com a trampa heurística (no en tenia ni idea del concepte, gràcies @lorelei_th per l’explicació!), un biaix mental que et fa simplificar la realitat i sobrevalorar la seguretat quan, objectivament, el risc hi és: lloc conegut, suposat risc baix, repetició recent, objectiu poc ambiciós… No és que les condicions fossin segures, és que semblaven segures. Però va bé recordar que el risc 0, simplement, no existeix. Avui ha quedat en un ensurt i en una bona lliçó a nivell personal. First let me be clear this isn’t a post to say “Look how cool I am. I ski faster than avalanches” It’s about awareness, preparation, and knowing your personal limits. Skiing in avalanche terrain takes years of experience, constant learning, and honest self-assessment, and even then, mistakes and close calls will happen. The only way to eliminate all risk is to stay out of the backcountry entirely, and since that’s not reasonable, I focus on being present and aware of all surroundings, moving deliberately, always knowing safe zones and having exit strategies before dropping into lines. On this line the pocket that released was small and manageable for the given terrain, and my personal skill set, but it’s a clear example of how quickly a situation can escalate and how fast you need to react. My hope is that this clip helps you visualize the speed at which things unfold, and reinforces the importance of preparation, decision-making, and humility in the mountains. @salomonfreeski @goprosnow @hestragloves

A British hiker filming in the Tian Shan mountains of Kyrgyzstan captured the moment a massive avalanche rushed toward him. The clip shows a distant glacier collapse quickly turning into a fast-moving wall of snow and ice heading straight down the valley. Realizing escape wasn’t possible, he stayed near a rock shelter and ducked in as the avalanche swept past, leaving him and the group largely unharmed. Five years ago, I triggered an avalanche beneath me. It was unexpected and I was lucky.😮‍💨 That experience reshaped my relationship with the mountains.
