Avalon is such a unique destination because it is located on Catalina Island — you need a 1-hour ferry ride from the mainland, Los Angeles. And it really reminds of Amalfi Coast in Italy! Catalina Island has wildlife, diving spots due to crystal-clear waters, and the iconic Casino Building — a cultural center built in the style of an ornate, circular dance pavilion. What to do in Avalon: ▪️Visit the Catalina Island Museum. ▪️Explore the Catalina Casino (for its history, it is not a gambling house). ▪️Enjoy water activities like snorkeling, scuba diving, paddleboarding, or kayaking. ▪️Relax on Descanso Beach. ▪️Go zip-lining through the Descanso Canyon. ▪️Stroll along the waterfront on Crescent Avenue. ▪️Visit Wrigley Memorial and Botanic Garden For the restaurant, I can recommend Bluewater Avalon, they serve great seafood, and I had great fish tacos and oysters there.
