Getting better at descending on a bike boils down to a few key principles: Body Positioning • Get Low: Drop into the handlebars for better aerodynamics and a lower center of gravity. • Relax: Keep your elbows bent and shoulders loose. Let your arms act as shock absorbers. • Weight Back: Shift your hips slightly back on steeper sections to maintain rear wheel traction. • Level Pedals: Keep your cranks horizontal for clearance and quick weight shifts. Braking • Brake Early: Do your heavy braking before corners, in a straight line. • Use Both Brakes: The front brake provides most stopping power, but use both together for control. • Feather, Don't Grab: Squeeze brakes progressively, don't yank them. Avoid constant dragging. Vision & Line Choice • Look Ahead: Focus far down the road, through the corner's exit, not at your front wheel. • Outside-Inside-Outside: For most turns, approach wide, cut to the apex, and exit wide. Practice & Confidence • Start Small: Begin on easier descents and gradually increase speed and difficulty. • Relax: Tension makes you stiff. Trust your bike; it's designed for speed. • Practice Regularly: Consistency builds confidence and refines your technique. #cycling #roadbike #roadcycling #tadejpogacar
