BEGINNER FITNESS and FORM FIX SERIES 6/8 Band Row How to & Do's and Dont's • 😁 Save these posts to a collection and you'll be able to find them easily for reference. All exercises can be done at home with minimal equipment. • BACK! Band Row - a simple and inexpensive but effective way to strengthen the upper back muscles around and between the shoulder blades. This will help with posture as these muscles often get weak and lengthened by sitting in a hunched position as many of us do during the day. • Bands can be purchased in different thicknesses, the thicker the more difficult the movement. You can also adjust the resistance by the distance from the point of attachment. The further away the harder it will be. • You can wrap the band around a sturdy pole or they also sell door attachments. Bands are very portable and can be taken pretty much wherever you travel. • BAND ROWS ✅ Start standing with feet about shoulder width apart. Maintain a slight squat position. Hinge forward a bit at the hips so you don’t put stress on your lower back. ✅ To get your shoulders in position bring them up, back, and down away from your ears. Think of bringing your shoulder blades towards your back pockets. ✅ When performing the row, think about using your shoulder blades to bring your elbows towards your body, keeping your arms a few inches from your body. • DON'T ❌ allow your elbows to go too far behind your body. ❌ hunch shoulders towards ears ❌ crane your neck forward • Start by performing 3 sets of 12 reps with a 60-90s rest in between. The last few reps of each set should be challenging without losing form. • Any questions? Have resistance bands, but not sure if you have anything sturdy enough to anchor them for your rowing/pulling exercises? 🤔 Well, here’s a nice variation of a band resisted rowing exercise that you can easily set up & perform at home with no other extra equipment except for just you and the band! 👌🏻 ... After wrapping the band around your feet, make sure it is sturdy and that you are sitting nice & tall with your legs extended out in front of you prior to performing the exercise. Save this for your next Back Day 💡 Barbell Bent Rows 💪🏾 The bent-over row is a staple exercise to grow that cobra back, it may seem daunting at first so here is a great way to start with your form to ensure an optimal workout 💪🏾 It isolates the muscles in the back, lats, shoulders, glutes and hamstrings which makes it an ideal tool for strengthening and stabilizing the shoulder, strengthening the core 🔥 Key things to Remember 📝 1. If this is a new movement for you, start with a light weight to ensure you use proper form. 2. Be sure to keep your knees slightly bent and hinge at the hips in order to protect your lower back. Keep a neutral spine throughout the movement. 3. Perform the movement slowly. Avoid swinging the weight up as this will cause your head to shoot forward and your back to arch, which can increase risk of injury. 4. Keep your head inline with your torso as you perform the movement. It helps to look at a spot on the floor about 12 inches in front of where the barbell begins.
