Desde el modelo tripartito de Barlow, los trastornos emocionales comparten una vulnerabilidad biológica común: la tendencia a experimentar afecto negativo con mayor intensidad y frecuencia. Eso no es el trastorno — es el terreno sobre el que crece. Cuando esa vulnerabilidad se combina con un ambiente que no enseña a tolerar el malestar y con el patrón de evitar las emociones difíciles, el resultado casi siempre es comorbilidad: ansiedad y depresión sostenidas por el mismo mecanismo central. Tratar cada diagnóstico por separado toca los síntomas. Trabajar la vulnerabilidad y la evitación juntas toca la raíz. DAY 14 CAMPAIGNING: DRONFIELD, WINGERWORTH, BARLOW, KILLAMARSH AND HOLYMOORSIDE Another day of campaigning and I’ve been all over North East Derbyshire again. The first event of the day was talking to pupils at Holymoorside & Walton Primary School where they have been learning about elections and the democratic process. #TransformationTuesday With the @oregonstatetourney wrapped up this past weekend and hearing words of behavior from coaches and adults that could be doing a better job of setting an example for our young people to emulate, i’m taken back to this moment last year, having the privilege of witnessing Coach Tom Johnson of @barlow_hoops winning his first championship in his 42 year career. While it is customary for head coaches to be the one to make the Final Cut of the net after winning by the title, Coach Johnson did something that those of us know him, didn’t surprise us at all… as he’s always done in his legendary and life changing career, he gave the spotlight back to one of his players. Watching him take those steps down, handling the scissors over to @_jalen_atkins_ to cut down the net… seeing Jalen hand the nets back over to Coach Johnson in a show of respect and love… I’m reminded and challenged to keep pushing to become the type of coach TJ has done for so many. Witnessing this subtle and powerful act has had a transformational effect on me over this past year. Does it do the same for you now? While there’s a lot to be desired in the youth and grassroots basketball eco system today, also know that there are the great caretakers of the game like Coach Johnson, who set a high bar for those coming after him to chase.
