✨ Summer School: Senayet Batates ✨ Today we’re making Senayet Batates (صينية بطاطس), a classic potato tray bake. 🥔 Directions 1️⃣ Prep Chop Yukon Gold potatoes, onions, and tomatoes. Don’t cut the potatoes too thin. Soak them in cold water to prevent browning and remove excess starch. Toss in a deep bowl with olive oil, salt, pepper, and minced garlic. Save some garlic for the tomatoes. قطعي بطاطس يوكن جولد، بصل وطماطم. متقطعيش البطاطس رفيعة قوي. حطيها في مية باردة علشان ما تسودش وتشيلي النشا الزيادة. قلبيها في بولة عميقة بزيت زيتون وملح وفلفل وثوم مفروم، وسيبي شوية ثوم للطماطم. 2️⃣ Tomatoes Toss slices with olive oil and remaining garlic in a bowl. قلبي شرائح الطماطم بزيت زيتون وباقي الثوم المفروم في بولة. You don’t need eight different spices to cook well. Use what actually suits the dish. مش لازم تكتري تمان بهارات مختلفة. الاهم انك تعرفي ايه اللي يناسب كل اكلة. 3️⃣ Tray Spread potatoes in a single layer in an aluminum tray. رصي البطاطس في صينية الومنيوم بطبقة واحدة. 4️⃣ Stovetop, then oven Electric: medium-low. Gas: medium-high. Add hot stock along the side. No stock? Dissolve a chicken bouillon cube or spoon of powder in boiling water and use that. Simmer about 10 minutes until 75% cooked. 5️⃣ Finish Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 10–15 minutes, then broil 1–2 minutes. حطي الصينية على البوتاجاز. على الكهربا متوسطة لواطية، وعلى الغاز متوسطة لعا‌لية. صبي مرق سخن على جنب الصينية. لو ما عندكيش مرق، سيحي مكعب مرقة او معلقة بودرة مرقة في مية مغلية. سيبيها 10 دقايق لحد ما البطاطس 75% مستوية. بعد كده دخليها فرن مسخن مسبقا على 400 فهرنهايت يعني حوالي 200 درجة مئوية لمدة 10 الى 15 دقيقة، واخر دقيقة او اتنين شواية. Egyptian baked potato. 🥔Recipe from mom. ‎صينية بطاطس باللحمة While my mother-in-law is staying with us, so I take advantage of the opportunity to learn from her how to cook traditional Egyptian dishes. Today I want to show you a dish that the whole family loves. The dish is called Sanyet el batates, means Egyptian baked potato. Sanyet means plate. Chop the onion and put it on plate. Add salt and ground black pepper and mash everything with your hand. Put the sliced ​​potatoes on top and add strained tomatoes. Then keep it on the gas, put meat (or chicken) broth on top, mom pre-cooked meat broth. The broth should cover the potatoes and add samna baladi (this is melted butter) and cook for 20-30 minutes over low heat. Cover with a lid or foil. When the potatoes are ready, put the meat and mix with potato sauce as in the video and cook again for a little more 10-15 minutes. When everything is ready, grill in the oven to give nice colour for 15 minutes.
