After a storm hit Southern California on New Year’s week, officials are asking the public to avoid all Los Angeles County beaches due to high levels of bacteria. Details in bio.

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health advised people to avoid ocean waters at some Los Angeles County beaches due to elevated bacteria levels that exceed state health standards. The warning applies to the following locations: Mother’s Beach in Marina Del Rey: Entire swim area. The Bel Air Bay club at Will Rogers State Beach: 100 yards up and down the coast from the club border fence. Malibu Lagoon at Surfrider Beach: 100 yards up and down the coast from the public restrooms. Santa Monica Canyon Creek at Will Rogers State Beach: Near Will Rogers Tower 18, 100 yards up and down the coast from the creek. Santa Monica Pier in Santa Monica: 100 yards up and down the coast from the pier. Pico-Kenter storm drain at Santa Monica Beach: Santa Monica South Tower 20, 100 yards up and down the coast from the storm drain. Herondo Street storm drain in Hermosa Beach: Near Hermosa Tower TK, 100 yards up and down the coast from the storm drain. Escondido Creek at Escondido State Beach: 100 yards up and down the coast from the creek. Castlerock Storm Drain at Topanga County Beach: 100 yards up and down the coast from the storm drain. The warnings were issued due to recent water samples that showed bacterial levels exceeding health standards.
