Beethoven for 2! My prof @grigory.gruzman improvised a second voice #beethoven #moonlightsonata #piano

🎹⚡ Ludwig van Beethoven – Sonata No. 14 "Moonlight", Op. 27 No. 2 — III. Presto agitato Valentina Lisitsa – piano solo 🎹 • Beethoven hated that the world only loved the first movement. He told Czerny: "I have certainly written better things." The Adagio became synonymous with piano. But the sonata wasn't written to end in silence — it was written to explode. The third movement is where Beethoven put everything that didn't fit in the delicacy: arpeggios at inhuman speed, sforzandos that cut, a coda with the weight of a concerto. Liszt called the second movement "a flower between two abysses." The first abyss is the Adagio. This is the second — and it's deeper. • The Presto agitato lasts about 6 minutes at full speed. There is no pause. There is no slow passage to breathe. The right hand fires ascending arpeggios while the left sustains rhythmic accents that forgive no delay. The tempo ranges between 168 and 200 BPM depending on the pianist — Lisitsa stays in the higher range. Charles Rosen wrote that the final movement was too grand for the pianos of Beethoven's time. On today's instruments, the resonance holds — but the fingers have to hold too. Most students who learn the Adagio never make it here. • Lisitsa recorded this performance in December 2009, at the Beethovensaal in Hannover. Fixed camera, framed on the hands, zero editing. It's the kind of recording that doesn't forgive — every hesitation would be visible. There are none. In 2007, her career had stalled. She posted her first video on YouTube and became the first classical pianist to go viral on the platform. Today she has over 300 million views. This recording of the Presto is the most watched video on her channel. The Royal Albert Hall invited her in 2012 based solely on the numbers. • 👉 Follow us, the best of classical music, daily in your feed. • • • #piano #beethoven #classicalmusic #pianist

“Smoke on the Water” by Deep Purple isn’t just a famous riff—it’s a real story turned into rock history. Released in 1972 on the album Machine Head, the song describes an actual incident that happened in Montreux. The band had gone there to record, using a mobile studio owned by The Rolling Stones. During a concert by Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention at the Montreux Casino, someone in the audience fired a flare gun, accidentally setting the building on fire. The casino burned down while the band watched from across Lake Geneva—that’s where the line “Smoke on the water, fire in the sky” comes from. Yes—Ritchie Blackmore did mention that the iconic riff of “Smoke on the Water” by Deep Purple was inspired by Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5, but not in a literal, note-for-note way. What he meant was that he took the essence of Beethoven’s famous four-note motif—its simplicity, repetition, and dramatic impact—and reimagined it in a rock context using guitar-friendly intervals like parallel fourths. While the actual notes and structure of the two pieces are different, they share the same core idea of building something powerful from a minimal musical phrase, which is why both feel so instantly recognizable and timeless. #deeppurple #ritchieblackmore #smokeonthewater #beethoven #guitarriff

I know, I know, the Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven is one of the most hyped pieces of classical music out there. But when it comes to the 3rd movement—the one heard in this clip—I truly believe all the hype is completely justified. It’s an incredibly intense, dramatic, and awe-inspiring example of Beethoven’s fiery compositional style. I’ve heard many interpretations of this piece, but none have captured my attention quite like the one by Valentina Lisitsa. She plays it with a force and power that’s hard to match and which is only appropriate for Beethoven, however she never loses the musicality in the process. She manages to maintain a lightness that brings out all the nuance of the piece, and for that, I absolutely love her playing #music #classical #piano #beethoven #energy This clip is being used for educational purposes

Perceber as camadas. Antecipar frases.

• • • #beethoven #piano #pianista #musicaclassica

Watch her reaction when Martha Argerich hits a wrong note “To play a wrong note is insignificant; to play without passion is inexcusable.” is widely attributed to Beethoven. However there is no known original source (e.g., Beethoven’s own letters, notebooks, or documented speeches) that definitively contains this exact wording. It may have been a paraphrase evolved out of this recollection from his student Ferdinand Ries: "If I made a mistake in a passage, or omitted notes and leaps, which he often wanted to have emphasized, he seldom said anything; if, however, I made mistakes in expression, in the crescendos, etc, or in the character of the music, he became angry, since, as he said, the former was accidental, while the latter showed a lack of knowledge, feeling, or attention. The former mistakes also often happened to him when he played in public." #piano #beethoven #prokofiev

🎹 Vladimir Ashkenazy 🎶 L. V. BEETHOVEN (Pathetique) Sonata No. 8 in C minor, Op. 13, Mvt I : Grave - Allegro di molto e con brio 📍 University of Essex, Colchester, 1972 💬 This is just a short segment, the full recording can be found on YouTube! 📚 The “Pathetique” Sonata was composed between 1798–1799, when Beethoven was about 27, and published in 1799, dedicated to his friend Prince Karl von Lichnowsky. The title Grande Sonate Pathetique (approved by Beethoven) reflects the sonata’s intense emotional character. A dramatic, tragic expression with classical form at a moment when Beethoven was pushing beyond his early Classical roots. This sonata is one of Beethoven’s most beloved and influential piano sonatas, a bridge between Classical and Romantic music. 🔔please consider following @pianoworld.daily for more piano content like this! 🙂👍🙏🙏 . . . . #piano #classicalmusic #pianoworlddaily #beethoven #pathetique
