And for anyone who’s curious about how we built it around the tree… to Account for the tree moving, we built the bench frame pretty far out from the trunk. The planks on top are currently cut 4 inches away from the trunk and can be cut more if the tree grows or sways to that point. To close the 4” gap(so phones don’t fall), we added that little ring on top which is not screwed to the bench at all so it can sway freely. Left roughly 1/2-1 inch gap around the entire tree on that top ring so it doesn’t always rub against the bark… the ring can easily be cut and removed if needed. But let’s be honest… it’s probably gonna be like 5-10 years before that’s a problem 😂😂 and at the end of the day… We’re just two Bros with absolutely no idea what we’re doing, so if it comes crumbling down… Whatever 🤷🏼‍♂️🐶 #dog #diy #treebench #floatingbench

Ad | I used old frame pieces from pallets to build the base. I was very lucky that the length was the perfect size to create a square around the tree, while still giving it plenty of space to grow. I painted each side of the wood in @osmo_uk Natural Oil Woodstain to finish and protect the wood before securing them together. I picked Basalt Grey which has given the wood that grey aged look while keeping it a little more uniform. For the bench seat I was able to salvage some old decking boards from the treehouse we had recently taken down. I secured the pieces to create a seat before cutting them down. After so long left to the elements, they did need a good clean, I then refinished them again in @osmo_uk Natural Oil Woodstain but this time in Cedar. The cedar colour helped even the wood tones out and create a nice contrast against the Basalt Grey base #gardendiy #upcycle #diy #reno #bench #treebench

We have accomplished a challenging task of building a deck bench around a tree, but it was executed successfully. It required a lot of planning and effort to ensure that it was done properly, but the final outcome was worth it. The bench adds a unique and cozy feature to their house ,providing a comfortable place to relax while enjoying the natural beauty of the tree. We are proud of our accomplishment and happy that we were able to create something functional and beautiful.
