Here’s how to grip your bench press for some more weight! 1️⃣Tilt your hands inward - bar should be over the meat of your thumb and low on the opposite side 2️⃣Grab the bar and squeeze mostly through your pinky and ring fingers 3️⃣Bend the bar to lock in hand position Shoutout to @bigbenchas #benchpress #chestday #gym #gymtips #workouttips #workout #shredded #bodybuilding #musclegrowth #fitnessmotivation #gymmotivation #strengthtraining #gymlife #bodytransformation #bodybuildingcom

If your wrists bend back or you feel like the bar slides in your hand when you bench, it may be because you have the wrong grip on the bar. Grip is often overlooked when it comes to the bench - most lifters only think about pushing the weight. The Bulldog Grip is used by the biggest benchers in the world to guarantee optimal force transfer, since the bar sits directly over the wrist and elbow joints - essentially, no energy is leaked. Try this by letting the bar sit deep in your palm, and it might just transform your bench! #benchpress #bench

STOP ARGUING ABOUT “THE BEST” BENCH GRIP Close, medium or wide… they all train chest, shoulders and triceps. You’re not changing the exercise, you’re changing who does more of the work. Here’s what you’re seeing in the video + slider: —Close grip Triceps do the heavy lifting Chest becomes more of a helper Usually the friendliest on shoulders —Medium grip (your standard bench) Best “all‑rounder” for most people Big chest involvement Triceps and shoulders still working, just more balanced —Wide grip Still mainly chest More front‑shoulder involvement Triceps contribute less, and your shoulders notice if you go too heavy, too fast. Needs the most precision while lifting. Not recommended for beginners. There’s no magic grip. Pick the one that matches your goal, your joints and your ego. Save this for your next bench day and slide through the grips to see where you actually feel it the most. #chest #benchpress

Bench press grip 👊 When I bench press, or actually, when I perform any barbell pressing exercise, I hold the barbell on the strongest part of my hand. If you’re holding the bar on a weaker part of your hand, it can cause pain in the wrist and can be holding you back from reaching your bench press potential. Check out this video, and if it’s new to you, give it a try! #benchpress #tutorial #followthesystem @strengthsystemonline

Using a suicide grip on the bench press is risky — the bar can slip out of your hands and drop onto your chest. ✅ Instead, use a full grip with your thumb wrapped around the bar for a much safer bench press. Instead of benching like this, try applying SLIGHT SHOULDER INTERNAL ROTATION. (angle your hands towards each other) Emphases on the slight ‼️ Holding the barbell in this way will not only give you a stronger position to press from, but it’s also a way to hold onto the barbell with more security. 🔑 This grip has helped me and many others out with our powerlifting oriented training. Most lifters will try to fix their bench by using cues to "tuck” or "flare” their elbows. But unfortunately that completely misses the point. Your elbow position isn’t something you manually set. It’s the byproduct of how your hand is positioned on the bar. When your hand is gripping too deep into your palm, your wrist is no longer stacked directly over your wrist joint. That creates a misalignment that carries all the way down the chain. Your elbow gets pulled out of position, your shoulders roll forward and you end up fighting for stability and failing at the top end. It’s why you can feel fine in warm-ups, but everything falls apart under heavier loads. You’re pressing from a compromised position before the bar even leaves the rack. Instead, think about where the bar sits in your hand. You want it stacked right above the wrist joint, in that fleshy part of your palm just beneath the thumb (not buried deep in the palm). From there, internally rotate your hand as you grip the bar which locks your shoulder in and automatically sets your elbow into a stronger line of force, letting you press through that sticking point! You’ll also notice your touch point shift a little higher and it’s one of those subtle technical changes that doesn’t just feel better but it fundamentally changes how you handle those heavy sets. These kinds of details are what separate “I bench twice a week” from actually progressing your bench. If you want your setup and technique dialled in to your leverages, apply for coaching through the link in my bio as that’s exactly the level of detail I put into building each and every one of my athletes total. #powerlifting #powerliftingcoach #ukpowerlifting #strengthtraining #gym #bench #ipf #wrpf
