2 other kitchen measurements you should know. So we’ve recently covered the distance between the bench and island (recap: minimum 900mm between, but up to 1400mm), however there are two other measurements to take into account. The standard depth of a counter or bench to the wall/splashback is 600mm, however we think a little more room is nice, so say 700mm. The height is your bench tops are really dependent upon the people who will be using the kitchen. Many will say the standard is 900mm high, however the range can be from 850mm to 1000mm. You wouldn’t want to be designing short benches for taller people, or vice versa, right? Design to the client’s needs and you’ll never go wrong.
