When I read that it was common for Silver-Era champions, not one of whom had any less than exceptional back development to perform pullovers in the 200s for reps, I had to try the Bent arm pullover for myself. Here's what I learned. 1. If your bench isn't bolted down, Weight it down before you get anywhere near bodyweight. I thought I was fine lifting 205 at 223 because the bent arm pullover has a very short lever arm, but apparently my math was off, big shout out to Mark and Ryan Santos for letting me copy your math homework all through high school! 2. Make sure you have a good grip. In this case rain water caused me to slip and lose the barbell, but this exercise involves a weird transition from pulling to supporting grip so be ready. 3. There is a ton of potential here. I'm mostly limited by equipment here, I'm kinda scared to push this bench, (a sacred relic of the Silver Era) too far. A LOT of weight can be lifted in this way and a LOT of lats can be built. I'd love to try this on a throwers set up with a high fixed bench with a rack and foot strap! For now I think I'll try lowering the weight slightly and increasing bench height.
