A woman's due date is calculated as being 40 weeks from the first day of last menstrual cycle. This works for the women with 28 day cycle. This may not work for the women with 35 to 40 days cycle. Therefore induction should be considered because of medical needs or pregnancy that has continued beyond 42 weeks.
