On #BlackBalloonDay, we remember the more than 800,000 lives lost to addiction in the past decade.💔 We honor the loved ones we’ve lost and hold space for remembrance. 🕊️ ~@vkarch

Black Balloon Day is a somber reminder of the lives we’ve lost to addiction—lives that should still be here. As someone in long-term recovery, an addiction treatment provider, and an active member of the recovery community, I’ve felt this loss personally more often than most. I’ve watched friends and brothers in recovery slip away, and I’ve walked alongside families as they navigate the unbearable grief of losing a loved one to overdose. This day isn’t just about mourning; it’s about remembering, raising awareness, and recommitting ourselves to bringing light where there is darkness, understanding where there is despair. It’s about ensuring that no one struggling has to do it alone. Recovery is possible. People do heal. But we have to keep showing up, keep spreading hope, and keep fighting for those who are still out there. Today, we honor those we’ve lost with black balloons, but more importantly, with action, love, and relentless support for those still battling this illness.

Today we honor Black Balloon Day, a day to remember the lives lost to overdose and the families forever changed by addiction. This day is deeply personal for us. In 2013, Lauren lost her younger brother Christopher to an overdose. His loss left a space that will always be felt, but it also sparked a mission — to make sure other families don’t have to face that same heartbreak without support. Christopher’s memory lives on through every person who walks through our doors and chooses recovery. If you or someone you love is struggling with addiction, please know you are not alone. Help is one call away. (888) 464-2144 archangelcenters.com

March 6 is Black Balloon Day — a day to honor those we’ve lost to overdose. This day is not about politics. It’s not about debate. It’s about people. If you are grieving someone, your grief belongs here. If you are fighting for your sobriety, this is your reminder that your life has weight. Addiction steals quietly. Recovery restores loudly. We remember them by how we live. If this feels important, share this post. ♡ And if you’re comfortable, say their name in the comments so they are remembered. ♡

🖤 Black Balloon Day 2025: Remembering, Honoring, and Raising Awareness 🖤 Tomorrow, on Black Balloon Day, we remember those we've lost to overdose and substance-related deaths. Each black balloon represents a life—a mother, father, sibling, friend, or neighbor—gone too soon. Their stories matter. Their struggles mattered. And today, we honor their memory. At Food for the Soul Project Society, our purpose is to give individuals on the path to recovery a fighting chance. Through housing, food security, mental health support, and harm reduction services, we work to provide stability where there was none, hope where it was lost, and connection where isolation once thrived. The opioid crisis is not just a statistic—it’s a human crisis. Overdose does not discriminate, and neither should compassion. We stand in solidarity with families grieving their loved ones, with those fighting to reclaim their lives, and with the frontline workers who show up every day to break barriers and reduce harm. Let this day be more than a moment of mourning. Let it be a call to action—a reminder that we must continue to push for better support systems, harm reduction strategies, and stigma-free care. Every life is worth saving. Every person is worth fighting for. If you have lost someone, you are not alone. We grieve with you, we remember with you, and we continue this fight in their honor. 🖤 #BlackBalloonDay #EndOverdose #HarmReductionSavesLives #EveryLifeMatters #FoodForTheSoulProjectSociety
