Here are two easy tips for styling a monochromatic outfit: 1️⃣Use two contrasting shades of the same color, one light and one dark (for example: bright pink pants, light pink top) 2️⃣Use accessories as your contrasting color. Belts, necklaces, shoes, hats, scarfs - anything that directly lays against, next to, or break up the main color. (I went super simple here with neutral/brown accessories, but could’ve easily amped up the fun with some light pink, turquoise, or a wine red) I went super wearable with a khaki/olive green - but if you’re into the monochromatic look, let me know and we can play with some bolder colors. 🌈

📌 If you love high-contrast outfits, this is the trap👇🏼 ⠀ 🟥 ⬛️ When you split two strong colors perfectly 50/50, especially in classic, basic cuts, the look can start to feel a bit dated and too coordinated. ⠀ ⠀ 👉🏼The fix: ⠀ 1️⃣ add light near the face. I know it sounds obvious … and yes, I’ve said it a thousand times …. but this really brightens up the portrait zone and instantly makes the look feel more modern. ⠀ 2️⃣ bring in a neutral to soften the contrast (grey in my case, but beige works too) ⠀ 3️⃣ use texture to add depth and make the outfit feel effortless, not “styled” ⠀ ❤️Same base. Here’s how to make sure your brown and black outfits look intentional (not accidental) - Keep the brown tones warm. Think dark chocolate, espresso, tan - Let one colour lead and the other support (notice my entire base is black?) - Add texture (leather, wool, suede) to soften the contrast (suede loafers / leather shopper) - Finish with gold jewellery, as it’s a warmer toned metal and this will pull everything together. So here’s how I warm it up, so that it suits my colouring: 1️⃣ I wear gold Jewellery to balance out the cool black tones 2️⃣ I pair black with my camel trench to warm up my whole outfit 3️⃣ I add a peachy lip colour to bring out the warmer tones in my skin 4️⃣ I wear my hair down to bring the caramel tones down onto the black & soften the look 5️⃣ I go for a lower neckline to keep some skin between my face & the black, this softens the look Remember even as a Colour Analyst, too many rules can be limiting & black is part of my style DNA.
