Flashback du 13 juin 2024 : Stupeur chez Alinghi Red Bull Racing, le challenger suisse pour la Coupe de l’America, ce jour-là vers 14h. Lors d’un entraînement à Barcelone, propulsé par une solide brise de Sud-Ouest d’environ 20 nœuds, BoatOne, le prototype AC75 de l’équipe suisse Alinghi Red Bull Racing, a soudainement stoppé sa course. Le mât de ce monocoque à foils s’est brisé en deux, s’effondrant comme un château de cartes. « C’est arrivé durant une abattée, explique Silvio Arrivabene, codirecteur général. La journée était très productive, avec un vent de haut médium. Nous atteignions et dépassions parfois nos objectifs de performance. Heureusement, toutes les personnes à bord de l’AC75 étaient saines et sauves, ce qui est le plus important. Le bateau est rapidement retourné à terre, permettant une évaluation immédiate des causes de cet incident technique majeur. » Credit video: unknow DM for removal
