Spending the Night in an Ancient Mountain Shelter with My Loyal Dog Far from the modern world, deep in the mountains, I discovered an ancient stone shelter — a forgotten place built by hands long gone. 🏔️🕯️ Together with my loyal dog, we hiked for hours through harsh terrain before arriving at this incredible human-made refuge. No one has lived here for centuries, yet the shelter still stands — quiet, raw, and powerful. We spent the night under its stone roof, surrounded by echoes of history and the sounds of untouched nature. No words were spoken. Just the wind, the fire, and the heartbeat of a bond between man and dog. 🎥 This is not just a survival video. We’re so lucky to be surrounded by people doing brilliant, creative things in our beautiful part of Perthshire. So a massive shout out to @wildemberbothy for creating this utterly magical experience on Loch Tay… A secret outdoor wood fired sauna, quietly hidden among the birch trees on the north shore of Loch Tay with a woodland path leading down to a cold plunge and the welcoming clear, cool waters of the loch. What’s more, as part of @surfersagainstsewage ‘Dip a Day’ October challenge which raises vital funds to protect the ocean and end sewage pollution, Wild Ember are offering a free sauna session on both the 1st and 31st of October to anyone taking part. Join Big Jim Collie - a Scottish crofter who lives alone in a bothy in the foothills of the Cairngorms - as he embarks on one of his epic cross-highland trips. Jim is on his way to Braemar, which is 60 miles away - if you plan on sticking to the roads. Luckily, Big Jim knows a shortcut through the Lairig Ghru - the highest mountain pass in the highest mountain range in Britain - that brings the journey down to a more manageable 22 miles, albeit over some of the harshest terrain in Scotland. Fortunately, Big Jim has a secret weapon; the Lairig Flyer, a rickety old bicycle. Furthermore, he has a wealth of experience - this is his 105th crossing of the Lairig Ghru. Perhaps most importantly of all, he has strategically stashed an armful of whisky bottles along the route - just the thing to keep his spirits up.
