Players with really good floaters may practice mundane floaters, but it isn’t the real reason why they have good floaters in my opinion. Floaters are something you take advantage of quickly. To get a shot over the defense before they can respond. To do this, you not only need to be able to shoot the floater quickly but you also need to be able to find the rim quickly, calibrate with your balance quickly, calibrate the ball quickly, etc. #gooddrill

In these clips, we’re intentionally having players miss back rim and then make the very next shot. If you only train to stack perfect makes, you’re not getting the same sensory information you feel in real games. What happens when you start 0-for-2 or 0-for-3 and still have to knock down the next one? If your system doesn’t know how to respond to misses and get the ball back to the target on command, you’re not truly calibrated. This is one small protocol we use inside our full shooting system.
