Spring overseeding with @mtnviewseeds 365SS Kentucky Bluegrass. These seeds are so tiny, you can barely see them coming out of the spreader! The 18V ONE+ 1 Gallon Power Spreader from @ryobitoolsusa handled this task flawlessly! I am doing a small enough area with small seeding rates to not justify putting this through a walk-behind broadcast spreader where I couldn’t set it low enough to spread this accurately. I found Setting 1 worked perfect for how small these seeds are and put out just enough to do multiple passes of the amount I had measured out for this area! Get ready to level up your lawn game! 🌿🌱 I'm sharing my step-by-step process for top dressing your lawn. Step 1️⃣: Select the right top dressing for your lawn. Make sure to choose a dressing that is appropriate for your soil type. Sand has great leveling properties and is compatible with my short mown turf however it is not the best choice for everyone. My recommendation is a 70/30 sand/soil mixture which provides a good balance of nutritional and leveling properties. Step 2️⃣: Spread the dressing evenly across the entire lawn using a shovel or broadcast spreader. You can add some additional dressing into areas of known low spots. Step 3️⃣: Level the dressing by using a lute, this will help to distribute it evenly across any bumps or dips. Giving you the perfect level surface. Step 4️⃣: Finally, drag in the dressing with a mat or drag to ensure that it is evenly spread and worked into the canopy. Welcome to a tour of an outside broadcast truck! We start with racks, or vision. This is where all the cameras colour, white balance and exposure is controlled plus a whole lot more. These panels are all operated by vision engineers. The sticks control iris up and down, above that we have colour adjustments and all the different camera settings. Behind we have all the servers and patch panels required to run the equipment. Next up we have sound, this is where sound from the event is mixed with the ability to fade up presenter mics when required. In this truck this is where the presenter cameras are coordinated from too. Now we move into the main gallery where the director and replay operators sit. On the right here we have the replay operator where all the cameras assigned to replay are routed and recorded to put together highlights and any replays needed. Finally we have where the director sits to control everything. All cameras are routed to the screens here so the director can see all feeds. On these jobs the directors control graphics and vision mixing too. This is a manual broadcast spreader—simple in design, but highly efficient in function. It works using a ground-driven system, where the motion of the wheels powers the mechanism. As you push it forward, the wheels rotate a spinning disc underneath the hopper. This process uses Centrifugal Force. Fertilizer drops onto the spinning disc and is flung outward in a wide, even pattern. This allows a large area to be covered quickly without clumping or uneven distribution. The adjustable opening controls how much material is released, ensuring consistent application across the field. Compared to manual spreading, this method improves efficiency, reduces waste, and helps prevent over- or under-fertilizing.
