Funghi e marciume: in inverno può succedere. Non sono stata fortunata con uno dei tre stenocereus marginatus. Cosa faccio con il cactus malato? Prima lo separo dagli altri due che sembrano sani, controllo che non ci sia marciume alla base e sulle radici. La base e le radici sono sane: il problema sta nel mezzo. Così faccio il chirurgo: procedo a tagliare la parte malata con un taglierino sterilizzato con alcol. Elimino tutta la parte nera, puccio il taglio nella polvere cicatrizzante e lascio la testa al sole per una o due settimane. Se non si forma il callo nel taglio, non posso invasare. Procedo allo stesso modo con l’altra metà del cactus, visto che la base è sana. Ma questa la posso già invasare, visto che la terra non tocca il taglio. Dalla base, sulla cima, nasceranno nuovi piccoletti. Perché ho tagliato? Semplice, senza intervento sarebbe morto. Il danno era troppo esteso per pensare a un trattamento e il nero all’interno ne è la dimostrazione.
