another local brunch spot to add to the list in essendon ✨ @lavallee.melbourne is one of Essendon’s local cafes that’s worth a visit for their brunch menu. They have a great variety from staples such as Avocado toasts, Benedicts all the way to lunch dishes such as Steak Sandwiches, Pizzas and Salads. Not only just pleasing to the eye (they really thought about their plating) it definitely did not disappoint the tastebuds! Being very honest, I find that it’s really hard to stand out as a brunch spot these days given how saturated it is in Melbourne especially. That being said, I’ve got to say that all the dishes we ordered were all hits and I genuinely felt like they hit the mark. The avo toast was generously portioned, and honestly it’s the least I would expect for how much avo toasts are priced these days. The little avo rose was cute and they poached the eggs well. The steak sandwich was executed well at a medium rare, exactly as we had asked — the only down side was it was a little tough to chew into but I can only blame myself for leaving the sandwich out while taking photos as it was a little cold when we got to it 😅 My favourite was their quinoa salad — I loved the ratio between a generous whip of hummus at the bottom, and a big serving of quinoa on top. I got mine with a side of grilled chicken which they were VERY generous with. Definitely a filling and decently healthy salad to get if you want something a little lighter. On top of all that, they also have a pastry and cake cabinet full of cakes and donuts! I got their Tiramisu which came in a pretty little glass. It was a little more decadent I had liked but overall was very good and is a great dessert pick if you come here for lunch. A pleasant brunch experience here and would say it’s worth a visit if you want some solid brunch food! @assemblyground 📍Essendon Assembly Ground is a lively, all day cafe located on Fletcher St, Essendon. You’ll never see this place quiet, well i havent anyway, and thats always a good sign! I visited a few years back and it was delicious, and thought i would see if it’s still just as good. 👀 The venue has plentiful inside an outside seating, with orders taken at the counter. The menu is filled with all your favourites, plus some more exciting and innovative options. They also have a bagel menu, kids menu, dinner menu (UberEats only) and bottomless brunch Friday - Sunday. ⭐️ Hotcakes - love!!! Sugary but not too sweet. ✔️ Steak Frites Baguette - tasty, great baguette. Very tender steak. Would’ve loved some extra chippies on the side! ⭐️ Breaky Board - the best of every world! A dream for an indecisive person like me! Avo and whipped feta toast, potato rosti and poached egg, small OJ, @holy_crumpets with marscapone and blueberry compote and a mini granola bowl. Service is efficient and friendly, even when every table is full. The dishes were all very generous, well priced, colourful and most importantly, tasted great! Fluffy Korean salt bread cafe in Essendon🥐🍞 This popped up as the place to go to for salt bread and it was such a cute space! We actually were more impressed by their other bread options including the potato foccacia and spring onion cream cheese bread! They have done good job with the interior. The place probably has around 30 ppl seating capacity. We tried: - Kadak Special Sandwich $11.99 - Chocolate cake $6.99 - Kiwi Mojito $5.99 - Kadak Chai $4.25 Sandwich: The sandwich was really huge, 4 pieces. Lots of filling veggies + Paneer. It was good but you may not be fully satisfied if you’re a chicken lover. Remember, this is a vegetarian Cafe. Chocolate Cake: Didn’t like it at all. Almost felt like supermarket quality Cake. Pretty sure they probably don’t make it their own. Also, informed the server. Hopefully, they change the supplier and get something better. Mojito: Honestly, didn’t feel anything special and I am comparing this with what we buy from Mokha. We absolutely love Mojito from Mokha. Karak Chai: Again, my level of standard was something similar to what you get at Chaiwala of London. So Kadak Chai from this Cafe feel a bit short to meet my expectations. But … But they are very new. Just opened. Pretty sure they will improve and would just do fine.
