Cal Mac Ferries said storm Dennis caused “major disruption” to its services over the weekend, but the company took time to praise the “skill of our Masters and crew” as they safely docked the Isle of Arran ferry during storm Dennis. #notForTheFaintHearted . . . . . 📸Credit: Stuart Bell via Storyful @calmacFerries #calmac #calmacFerries #isleofArran #ferry #stormDennis #totheleftTotheright #rockin #igscotland #instascotland #insta_scotland #thisIsScotland #scotlandisNow #Scotland_insta #lovescotland️❤ #lovescotland #scotlandphotography #Scotland #scotland_ig #scottish #scotSpirit #News #weLoveScotland #ScottishNews #ScotlandNews #ScottishSun #theScottishSun #ScottishSunInsta

Calmac Ferries don’t just take me over me water, they take me on a journey 🥰 @calmacferries @visitscotland @visitouterhebrides #outerhebridescollective #westernisles #outerhebrides

Ferries are boats that carry people, cars, and goods across water. They are used where there are no bridges or tunnels, like between islands or across wide rivers. When a ferry reaches the dock, it is tied securely so it does not move. Then a ramp is lowered from the ferry to the shore. The cars start their engines when the crew gives the signal. They drive off the ferry slowly, one line at a time, while workers guide them safely. After all the cars and people leave, the ramp is lifted again. The ferry then gets ready to take on new passengers for the next trip.

The ferry ride home this afternoon was GORGEOUS! The video even has a brief dolphin appearance. The water was like liquid silver in some directions. ❤️

Largest Ship To Visit US East Coast. The CMA CGM Theodore Roosevelt is a 14,414–14,855 TEU Ultra Large Container Vessel (ULCV) that made history in 2017 as the largest ship to transit the expanded Panama Canal. Measuring roughly 1,200 feet long, it inaugurated the raised Bayonne Bridge, enabling larger cargo ships to reach NYC. The ship’s arrival required significant infrastructure upgrades, including a $1.6 billion project to raise the Bayonne Bridge and dredging the New York Harbor to 50 feet. #seakvlt #verrazzanobridge #nyharbor #cmacgmtroosevelt #containership

Long day behind us. We completed cargo discharge, departed the terminal, anchored in the designated bunkering area, and finished taking fuel. Now, we are underway to our next port.
